Tennessee Style BBQ Ribs
2 racks of Spare, St. Louis Style or Baby back ribs
Rub Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
Preparation:
1. Combine all ingredients together and transfer to an air tight container. Coat ribs evenly with rub before grilling.
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup Jack Daniel's Whiskey
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
2. Combine ingredients and mix well. If you make it a few days in advance the flavors will have more time to blend together. Set aside.
3. Prepare grill by turning on 1 burner or by lighting charcoal and positioning it to one side (this is the HOT side). Preheat to 375-400 degrees.
4. Place ribs opoosite the HOT side of the grill. Cook for approximately 2-2 1/2 hours. Ribs will be done once the meat starts pulling away from the bone.
5. Brush with bbq sauce ten minutes before removing from grill.
